About
By ScottMy Personal Bio:
Who am I? My name is Scott Peterson. (*No, really. And no, there is no relation between me and the person in California in ANY way). I’m in my 40′s and I workout. To me being fit isn’t a goal or an achievement; it’s a way to live your life. It’s common sense. I’m not here to sell you anything; just want to tell it like I see it.
I was always active in sports growing up. Baseball, soccer, snow skiing. Was dedicated to weight lifting from age 18-27. Suffered extensive injuries playing soccer at age 27 to my ankles and fell off the fitness wagon. I had always been thin and ate what I wanted, when I wanted and how much I wanted never an issue. From age 30 – 37, I ballooned up to 205lbs. from my ‘fighting weight’ of 160lbs.
On a 5’10″ guy I looked like a basketball on a stick. I saw a picture of myself in the pool with my kids and asked, “Who is the fat guy in the pool? I thought we were the only ones in the….” and it dawned on me that I didn’t recognize myself anymore.
I made consistent small changes over time, rededicated myself to working out and lost the weight at age 37. I started playing indoor soccer at a competitive level again. At age 41 I noticed I was getting a step (or two) slower; and it was frustrating.
Ran across P90X while researching Plyometric exercises and it struck me that this was the ‘kick in the rear’ I needed. I’ve ‘brought it’ in the kitchen and with the DVD’s and completed round one. I’ve added my workouts in addition to many aspects of the P90X program and finally moved into using the TRX Suspension trainer. There are good days and bad days, but I am ‘bringing it’ without fail. And I’ve gotten my ‘jump’ back and am much more explosive from a standing stop. I’m actually a better soccer player now at 43 than when I was in my 20′s.
My goal now is to help others discover and achieve their goals. I’ve done P90X for four full cycles and P90X-Plus for another two. Part of my journey now is helping others get through their journey. Currently I do a mix of workouts centered around the TRX Suspension Trainer and using interval training for cardio. My own training centers less on trying to be an ‘underwear model’ and more on practical fitness that keeps me competitive on the soccer field and healthy the rest of the time in my life.
Peace.
Scott
